Criminal/Traffic Division

When the City or the State charges an adult with a crime or traffic offense in Youngstown, that case comes before the Municipal Court. The Court handles misdemeanor offenses (where the maximum penalty is generally up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine). It also handles initial appearances and preliminary hearings in felony cases. The Court does not hear cases involving persons under 18 years of age who are charged with acts that would be crimes if committed by an adult.
